complete newbie needs some help

hi there =)

i just migrated from windows2000 to suse linux 8.2.

now i want to relaunch my (small private) mailing list, but 
honestly dont have any clue how to start.

so here what i want/have:

i have an email account (gmx) where i can send and
recieve (pop3/smtp), specially for my mailing list.

now i want majordomo (any alternative which is easier
to configure/maintain and/or uses less resources?)
to check the account maybe in a 5 minute rythm, and
sending mails out to members using this account.
