there is only one viable solution. when idiots sign up for C/R systems and
don't whitelist their mailing list subscriptions, just throw them off.
i occasionally issue warnings to the members of my lists that if they choose to
turn up C/R systems, they need to take care of business if they don't want an
interruption of service. it is not reasonable for the average list reader to expect
a list admin to jump through hoops for this kind of stuff.

in the old days, when there were evil MTAs out there like M$Mail, putting the
list address in the From: header was asking for mail loops, usually starting at
about 6pm friday evening. don't ask me how i know this.
