Subject: digests on Cobalt server?

I've spend the better part of a day trying to get digests to work
on my RAQ4 without any success. I've read the man page, the quick
digest setup, the README.digest, and the FAQ. I want to use the
-digest form rather than the standalone form. I am ignoring the
Cobalt Admin interface and doing this with the config files.

Here are three problems that I think are relevant:

1. Inconsistent documentation:

In the man file it says "the archive directory will be:
/usr/local/mail/lists/banjo-digest.archive

-- but in the quick digest setup it says --

/usr/local/mail/files/banjo-digest.archive

Which is it? I'm suspecting that it should be the latter.

2. When trying to define the -digest config file, it is not
clear whether you need to define the key "digest_work_directory",
which has the ominous warning "Don't change this unless you know
what your are doing".

And when I do send a newconfig with this line:

digest_work_dir     = /usr/local/majordomo/www.noeticharbor.com/digests

the config is accepted, but if I try the directory I really want:

digest_work_dir =
/usr/local/majordomo/www.noeticharbor.com/digests/list-digest

I get:
The new config file for list-digest was NOT accepted because:
unknown key |/usr/local/majordomo/www.noeticharbor.com/digests/list-digest|
in file list-digest.new.config at line 169

I've even tried moving the directory to the next line, without change.

3. For historical reasons my list is named "list" and my list digest
is named "list-digest". I did not see any prohibitions on this, but
you never know.

I've created the aliases as describe in the quick setup, and added them
to the aliases.majordomo and executed newaliases (neither of which is
specified in the quick setup, by the way).

To date, I cannot get any submissions to my list to go into the
work directory. Any help or pointers on troubleshooting this would be
appreciated.
