My web host apparently has version 1.1, dated 18 May 96. Wow, thats
older than I expected to see.
I think it is hosted on Linux, but not sure exactly what.
Also not sure about the MTA.
I don't know how to send the sendmail command.
Hmmm, as I look at the aliases, I realize that I have an alias for
dmgroup that might be interfering with majordomo.

What verxion of majordomo are you running, on what OS, and with
which MTA? Is your domain hosted?
What does "sendmail -bv majordomo@datamodel.org" tell you?
Is there anything in either the maillog or the majordomo Log
to give a clue?
What do your aliases for dmgroup look like?
What does "wrapper config-test" output?

OK,
Sending a simple email to "majordomo@datamodel.org" with the single
body line "lists" or "help" does nothing.
I've checked my configuration and everything is open, so this should
have worked.
I've also tried sending to "dmgroup@datamodel.org" and
"dmgroup-request@datamodel.org".
They all come right back to my mailbox.
Is this because the list is moderated?
I sure hope not, because I don't want to have to approve people
asking for help.

I'm a newbie, so forgive me if my question is simple or stupid. I
have read through the FAQ and other sources, but still can't figure
out this problem on my own. Please help.
I have set up a new majordomo server as part of my web domain
hosting. Everything seems OK, but the lists I create don't seem to
work. One is called "dmgroup". I would assume that
"dmgroup@datamodel.org" would be the proper email address to use when
sending messages to the list.
It would be for messages to the list.
I have tried sending commands and
requests to the list many times.
Commands to the list, such as the one below, should be sent to
majordomo@datamodel.org.
It sounds as if there is something else wrong, or the commands you
sent to the list should have generated something. (But not what you
wanted.)
What is your configuration?
I think I have the formatting
correct. For instance, the following should give me a list of
members:
approve password who dmgroup
(the password isn't really "password", of course)
Can someone help me get started. Where is a good on-line resource
for this sort of thing? Everything I have found so far really
doesn't help me diagnose/debug the situation.
Thanks for your help.
