We're experiencing problems with an Interland Freedom Server-hosted
(FreeBSD) set of majordomo lists. Messages aren't getting delivered via
majordomo (1.95) and sendmail outside our own domain and the maillog
show many lines ending with:
stat=Deferred: Connection reset by mailhub.atl.registeredsite.com.
and many others ending with:
stat=Deferred: 452 4.5.3 Too many recipients
We just have about 3-5 messages being sent per day to our membership of
a little over 1000 nonprofit organizations. It had worked fine for a few
years but about a week ago, this problem developed, with a huge
resulting increase in the size of our maillogs as messages get deferred
for 5 days and end with a permanent fatal error.
Anyone else using a non-dedicated server at Interland with majordomo
these days? You having similar problems? Is anyone able to suggest a
fix, perhaps reducing the number of recipients per outgoing message
attempt in some fashion? Since last week, Interland tech support has
told me that the problem has been escalated and that engineers are
working on it but there's been no sign of progress... (I'd be grateful
for other hosting suggestions if there's no fix available for what's
going on at Interland).
Thanks,
Steve Ronan
