Not so much a pissing contest with your Provider as it is a major battle
with Spammers..
AOL receives over 30 Million Spam messages a day.. This is not a guess my
information comes from a friend that works for AOL. It takes a lot of
resources to filter through all of that not to mention the shear amount of
bandwidth it consumes..
Per message AOL wants no more then 5 in the To: CC: list but at the MTA
level they will accept 25. With sendmail setting the TOBUFSIZ to 1024
brought the MTA level less then 25 and AOL is happy.. I know this can be
accomplished with Postfix as well. However, this requires that you have
control of the MTA. If you don't then the bulkmailer solution is best.

Pete

I had this problem with AOL. It appeared to me to be a pissing contest
between AOL and the folks who host my server. AOL was classifying any
message containing over five AOL addresses as SPAM, and blocking them. This
also applied to any other ISP they owned, such as Netscape.
Several of the AOL subscribers on my list told me that they had complained
to AOL and were able to get the list that way. I suggested to all of the
others that they complain, or look into an alternative ISP.
I did install bulkmailer, and then broke the outgoing messages down into
groups of five.
All of this solved the problem.
