To be add to this I had a similar issue last week on the lists that I host.
It turned out to be an issue with Yahoo. This included sbcglobal.net.  

Moral of the story here you need to check the Exchange Logs to see if the
message came in as a duplicate. When I checked my sendmail logs I noticed
that Yahoo was sending the same message two times, mere seconds apart.

The issue as corrected itself, but it was frustrating.
