[my bad: the MJ-users list is set to reply to sender -- and I see that Robert HAS posted his patch, which is much more elegant than mine...
Julian: sorry for the off-list response.

Yes. I have a solution which allows you to define an HTML footer and it
gets appended to all messages that contain HTML. The downside is that you
need to maintain two footers,

Sounds useful.
Hopefuly the Ascii footer doesnt get sent too on HTML postings, as
double footers would confuse some people on some lists I run:
( Who are more than confused enough already), Some are total
incompetents, can't understand ascii, or subscribe addresses
etc, hence I'm constantly tempted to switch to Mailman,
to avoid dealing with them ).

I, too, have tweaked majordomo to deal with _fronter and _footer in html
messages. My hack simply places the _fronter and _footer *inside* the
MIME enclosure when it exists. If there's no MIME enclosure, they go in
the normal places. So there's still a single set of definitions in the
list.config file

I took that approach because I could see that the _fronter and _footer
WERE being written to HTML-formatted mail, but outside the MIME
enclosure of the HTML.

Like Robert, I've not taken the time to document the patch, but will try
to get to that in the near future.
