Is there a way to turn off the generation of the help message to anyone not
on a list requesting help? Have much spam coming in to majordomo@ which
generates equal number of outgoing help messages and most bounce back or are
undeliverable.

Thanks,
Bob Abbott

I think you'd have to edit the source code to turn that off, Bob, although see if you can do something with $majordomo_dont_reply

I "solved" the problem with spam to majordomo by changing the alias of majordomo to something else. Of course, I had to change the majordomo.cf to match the new alias. There is no longer a majordomo@ on my server. Mail to majordomo just gets a normal BOUNCE message, which usually results in a "double-bounce" - and those get routed to /dev/null
