I have the administrivia checking turned on in Resend so messages
which look like subscription requests are not sent to the list but
bounced to listname-approval.
I'm happy with it's parsing ability as is; I won't re-open that can
of worms. However, when it is bounced to me, nothing is sent back to
the sender letting them know. Some times I am a day or two behind in
getting to these messages, and it is almost never a false positive so
I just mail the subscription instructions to the sender.
What I am thinking would be handy is if Resend sent back a message to
the sender automatically, so they can send the correct subscription
request right away without waiting for me to get around to it.
Something along these lines:
Your message:
Re: $subject
looks like a subscription request for the "$listname" mailing
list. If you wish to subscribe to $listname, please send a
message to
$whoami
containing:
subscribe $listname
and you will be added to the list.
Or something along those lines.
This message would go to the sender IN ADDITION to the bounce to
listname-approval, so that if it really is a valid posting it can be
approved.
Has anyone done anything like this already? Any gotcha's to watch
out for?
I'd appreciate any comments. Thanks!
