My digest changes (in contrib/digest.diff) can be configured to do just that.
Set digest_maxdays to the number of days (or fractions of days) that you
want digests to go out over. Take a look and see if that's what you want.
I have made further changes which are not in that change which should come
even closer to what you want. If you can use what I've already done, you're
welcome to it....
