I tend to agree with Chan about autoconf being overkill, but it would
make things a lot easier for folks that don't "speak make". Maybe it's
already in 1.94, but something that everyone forgets is to configure the
first line of the Perl scripts to give the correct path to invoke perl.
That should be added to the install target. What that path is could be
edited into the Makefile or deduced by autoconf.
