Subject: two configs for digests?

Sorry if this has already been treated, but I was wondering
about the two places where digests can be configured:
in $listdir/listname.config and in ~majordomo/digest/listname.cf.

I've been working on step by step instructions for making
digests and hit this question.

Unless I'm mistaken, if majordomo is sent a mkdigest command,
the digest variables will be taken from $listdir/listname.config.
The variables include, for example, the volume and number of
the digest.

If, however, the digest command is invoked separately, which
happens when the byte limit is exceeded, the digest variables
are taken from ~majordomo/digest/listname.cf.

At least this is what my reading of the files "majordomo" and
"digest" (version 1.93) leads me to believe.

Am I looking at code that's been superseded, or am I right in
thinking that this setup can cause the two sets of variables
to easily get out of sync?
