Subject: Looping, cascading Welcome and HELP messages

I am using 1.94b3.

I have various subscribers on addresses that generate auto-responses
(receipts, fax acknowledgements etc). When I join them with a "subscribe
list address", the auto-reply to the welcome/intro message goes back to
majordomo, which then sends them help, which generates a receipt, which
generates Majordomo help, etc etc ad infinitum. Is there any way round
this? The taboo headers seem only to apply to submissions to lists, not
to mailings to majordomo itself.

Second question: a command like approve password unsubscribe * address
doesn't work. Why is that?

Any advice gratefully received...

Thanks

Ben
