Well, it's certainly more portable than perl4 ever was.

There exist perl.com and perl.org.  Anyone that can't find it is daft.

Backwards compatibility.  The promise has always been perl4 until 2.0.  the
question has always been when.

Honestly, I never would have proposed this if it hadn't turned out to be so
incredibly easy.  I just wanted something to parse the header for me; all
of the MIME processing sort of fell out for free.
