Majordomo: 1.94.1, Perl 5.003
We run a number of digested mailing lists here at Hyperreal, and last
night one went out to the "vjmc-digest" list with a problem, a problem
which caused a bounce from a majority of the sites contacted. The problem
was that the headers looked like
From vjmc-digest-owner Fri Jan 11th.....
From: vjmc-digest-owner
To: vjmc-digest
Sender: vjmc-digest-owner
and the failure happened during the SMTP conversation
550 MAIL FROM: vjmc-digest-owner
to which most machines responded with "user unknown".
This was the first post to this list since the 1.94.1 upgrade, but other
digest lists haven't had this problem since the upgrade. The "sender"
variable in the config file is "vjmc-digest-owner" - I've changed that to
"vjmc-digest-owner@hyperreal.com" for the time being, but that doesn't
feel like the right solution.
Does this trigger any ideas, is it a known bug? Any idea what could cause
this problem for this list and not for other digest-based lists?
Brian
