There's another approach, which is used in the mh documentation and
in the document I wrote and put up on the net at
http://medstat.med.utah.edu/medstat_ops
That is to have the relevant hostnames and directories represented in
the document as parameters, and have the installation procedure configure
them to the real hostname and directories of the target machine.
Personally I like this approach since it presents the list administrator,
who is probably expert in the subject of the list but not necessarily
expert in computer arcana, with a minimum of symbols that are subject
to intepretation.
Of course the user who subscribes would still be joe@example.com or
something like that ...
