Anybody ever notice the current format doesn't show the year?

ie:

Jan 15 12:56:25 commline.com majordomo[28071] {Jason Irwin
<jirwin@old-dominion.net>} help

What's with that?

I just realized that my log file has been growing for YEARS and YEARS and
the log keeps having recycling dates... :)

Another thing I noticed during an upgrade to 1.94.4 is that majordomo now
demands write ability to the directory the log file is in rather than just
the log file itself... I can see reasons for that (creating the log if it
doesn't exist, since it's not a daemon and doesn't use syslog) but it
makes it strange if you want to keep it in some "normal" place (/var/adm
or /var/log).

I was thinking or writing patches for these two things, but since Jason's
so hard at work on ][, I thought I'd let him have yet another thing to
think about. Also, maybe one of you has already patched it up for the
dates in the log.

In thinking about the date for the log, what would be the best format for
adding the year and maybe TZ?

I do also realize that syslog (at least on all unix boxen I've used)
doesn't log those two things anyway...UGH!

Oh well, something to think about.
