I can see where this would be helpful for some things, but as tight as I run my ships... I don't want the user to do something wrong and get away with it, such as sending list commands to the posting address, or attempting to post from a non-member address.
I'm not just being a power-weilding dictator about it, I want the luser to LEARN what's going on. If we, as listowners, just go ahead and say "yeah, whatever, ok" to whatever they do, then we might as well just crumble it all into one address and let anything go. (ooops... who left that soap box sitting there? Sorry.)

Since most email clients that I know of that have automation capabilities use the SENDER:, FROM: or REPLY-TO: headers to send their replies to, an X-Header wouldn't do any good.

Yeah... a thought. Of course, I'd like too many customizations. :-) Choosing what items to bounce replies to majordomo, and what items to bounce to the sender.
In some ways I would prefer the major send the luser himself the bounce saying something to the effect of... "sorry, luser, you don't belong here, trying subbing first, then posting." or "you used a bad word. please try again", of course in more appropriate terms, but you get what I mean.
So many variables....

Technology still isn't so advanced. You may be able to send
a picture of yourself, naked, around the world in just a few
seconds on the internet, but it still takes ten minutes to
get a check approved in the checkout line at WalMart.
