I just don't see the point.  You can work as hard as you want trying to
detect duplicates on a single server, but users are still going to get dups
from lists hosted on different servers, or even from the same server if 
their subscription address varies a little bit.

We know how to do client end filtering, and it actually works.  Why reinvent
a wheel that at best will only be about 1/2 round?
