I don't like the idea either, it'll just make things worse.

How about a compromise, any line starting with two dashes (anything after
doesn't matter) indicates a signature seperator?

Note, this is still worse than the latest 1.94.x release, which will stop
at my signature of a number of dashes, with two spaces before them. (like
below)
