Hello,

I am a member of a Linux Users Group in Toulouse, France. We run a
number of mailing lists using majordomo, including a few for
nontechnical users. These users tend to get upset at receiving email
from a robot in a language which [many of them] don't understand.

We are seriously contemplating the translation of the messages sent by
Majordomo into French. However, a lot of this text is mixed up with
the Perl code. It appears that it might be beneficial to possible
future internationalization projects to separate these components from
the majordomo program itself. The idea would be to create a file
messages.FR, say, corresponding to a messages.EN, etc, and come up
with some mechanism for extracting the appropriate messages according
to the locale.

Would the majordomo developers welcome such a move? It would
inevitably add a little complexity to the code, but seems worthwhile
to us. We would like to avoid splitting off our own version, but would
much prefer working in the aim of folding our changes into the main
development branch.
