Setting "owners" to include my email address solved the problem; thanks.
"alias" still doesn't seem to function. Majordomo returns two messages in
response to the command:

alias listname wdickson@nwnexus.net

The first message includes the confirmation token; the second is a
notification that the command needs approval and was therefore
unsuccessful. So far, so good.

I open up my browser to the address:

http://www.awenet.com/cgi-bin/mj_confirm

...and enter the token, select "accept", and submit the form. After
thinking for a while, it returns a page that contains only the header:

Majordomo Request Confirmation Results

No confirmation is sent, and the _aliases.T file is not created.

If I bypass the token approval process by sending:

approve password alias listname wdickson@nwnexus.net

...the _aliases.T file is created, and aliasing works properly.

I've also tried replying with the command:

accept

...in the body of the message, with the token left in the subject. I got
a surprise mailer error again:

----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----

In the meantime, at least I can make aliasing work by approving the
members myself. Thanks for any more help!
