May I make an alternative suggestion?
I've always liked command processors that automatically look for
uniqueness, and if you've typed in enough to be unique, accept it for
the command. That way, we don't have to argue/worry about subsets or
abbreviations -- it comes along in the wash, and it's something
knowledgable users can take advantage of without us necessarily
having to document it to death or try to keep things in sync. If the
command sequences change or things get added, the system takes care
of it.
And if someone uses a command that's not unique, all ("all", yeah.)
the server needs to do is send back a "not unique, did you mean
"Subscribe" or "subvert"?) message, and there's very little user
confusion capable....
