That is a positively ancient version of Perl.  They fixed these bugs long
ago; if you want to be on the bleeding edge, you might want to move to
5.005_56.  Otherwise 5.005_03 is stable.

They've already been removed in the development version.  (Actually, no code
is shared between the development version and 1.94.4.)
