Thanks for suggesting this. I will give it a try. My initial thought
was that there were just too many errors here and I must have done
something wrong with the installation of Perl, which looks like a
huge package compared with the previous version and one I'm not
at all comfortable with yet. I'll try running h2ph and see how many
errors I'm left with then. One error which stands out is this one:-

Running h2ph may sort out the other errors, but I suspect this will
remain. How critical is this version of DB_File?
