I had the same problem 6 months ago on a Solaris box, and it was never solved:

Note that I had a different Perl, a different OS, and a different release of Mj2.
[My solaris box has a serious problem: It's not on the net, and it
seems to have a boot problem with some sort of missing domain name.
If I run mj_shell without a full username, worse things happen... so
try supplying more args or a full domain name or something.]
For all those who have been offering to help solve nits: HERE'S ONE!
(that no one has solved because it's hard to reproduce on most boxes)
