Hello, majordomo gurus:

I have installed majordomo-1.94.5 on a fresh system. (RedHat 7.1, kernel
2.4.4) The installation target was /usr/lib/majordomo-1.94.5. Owner and
group for the installation are majordomo:majordomo (yes, I know this is a
9-byte userid.)

This system uses smrsh, so I have the following link:
   /etc/smrsh/wrapper -> /usr/lib/majordomo-1.94.5/wrapper

sendmail configuration includes /etc/mail/majordomo.aliases, as follows:
    O AliasFile=/etc/aliases,/etc/mail/majordomo.aliases

(/etc/mail/majordomo.aliases is actually soft-linked to the install
directory)

... and that works, as evidenced by this command:
  $ newaliases
    /etc/aliases: 40 aliases, longest 29 bytes, 425 bytes total
    /etc/mail/majordomo.aliases: 7 aliases, longest 45 bytes, 223 bytes
total

Here's my majordomo.aliases file:
  $ cat /etc/mail/majordomo.aliases
    majordomo:       "|/etc/smrsh/wrapper majordomo"
    owner-majordomo: inbound
    majordomo-owner: inbound
    test:            :include /usr/lib/majordomo-1.94.5/lists/test
    owner-test:      inbound
    test-request:    "|/etc/smrsh/wrapper request-answer test"
    test-approval:   inbound

sendmail configuration also "trusts" user majordomo by merit of this entry:
    Tmajordomo
("T" in column 1)

User inbound exists, and currently picks up my external mail.

My installation directory looks like this:
-rwxr-xr-x 1 majordom majordom  5267 Jun 1 13:45 archive2.pl
drwxr-xr-x 2 majordom majordom  4096 Jun 1 13:46 bin

-rwsr-xr-x 1 root     majordom 16819 Jun 1 13:48 wrapper

(This is all well and good. There is no majordom user; this is a limitation
of ls -l)

I have stopped and restarted sendmail a number of times, once after each
change.

However, when I do:
   echo lists|mail majordomo

I receive the following in returned mail:
     ----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
  "|/etc/smrsh/wrapper majordomo"
      (reason: service unavailable)
      (expanded from: majordomo)

     ----- Transcript of session follows -----
  Message delivered to mailing list majordomo
  smrsh: wrapper not available for sendmail programs
  554 5.0.0 "|/etc/smrsh/wrapper majordomo"... Service unavailable

I've read though the FAQ, followed the sendmail guidelines, done my best to
make this not a problem. Where did I go wrong?
