Technologies: Large-scale TCP/IP networks, large-scale administration of UNIX in heterogeneous environments, firewalls, Internet security, large-scale electronic mail.
Director/Security Architect. Managed engineering and IS teams. Designed and oversaw implementation of all internal computing systems, including a redundant, continuously available and geographically distributed database system which received data from Counterpane's customer sites continuously, processed it, and presented relevant information to analysts who provided managed security monitoring services. Built IS department from one person to a geographically distributed group with its own director.
Technical Consultant, Professional Services. Provided consulting for Silicon Graphics customers worldwide, specializing in security and large-scale electronic mail systems.
Technical Team Leader, European Desktop Team. Designed, implemented and supported Silicon Graphics' European strategy for desktop applications for its employees. Provided applications to 1600 people at 40 sites in 16 countries.
Senior System Administrator. Provided day-to-day management and technical assistance for the assistance center, providing desktop application and UNIX system support for Silicon Graphics employees.
System Administrator and Senior System Administrator, Information, Telecommunications and Automation Division. Managed a 6 person system administration group for a research division specializing in UNIX and networking. Maintained multiple production and research networks for SRI, worked on contract for SRI clients. Held a Top Secret security clearance for work with government clients.
User Support Manager, Computer and Information Science Department Computer Facilities. Managed daily operations (including backups, account installation, and most user consulting). Handled all aspects of documentation, on-line and paper, including its creation. Maintained TeX and LaTeX, was PostScript expert, maintained the printing system, and did general system administration when necessary.
